The Watershed Nightclub

A television studio in Staffordshire (Midlands, UK) was selected as an appropriate location for set construction and filming. Several locations were recce'd in London for the nightclub scenes. A club called The Watershed in Wimbledon proved to be the most approproate, with the layout and look meeting Joby's perceived vision almost perfectly. Filming dates were confirmed for late December.

In early November Joby went to meet Liz Cass to discuss the script and ideas behind the conceptual piece of Skin Deep. Over an afternoon of discussing the motivations behind the short film and the character of Lucy, it beame clear that Liz had the ideal look and professionalism to play the lead role.

However, the script still lay heavily into its descriptions of the other female characters, this was just as important in the casting of the character Danni. After casting and auditioning of other actresses the part was given to another London based actress, Emma Dawes. Emma infused good experience with the perfect look for the character of Danni.

Set construction began in mid November with the arrival of the materials. Thanks to the fantastic British weather the wood arrived wet, delaying construction by a week. Once construction began, the determination and motivation towards production grew as the ideas and work moved from paper to a reality. A week later and the set began to take shape.
